RESUMO

O herpes labial é uma doença infecto-contagiosa comum causada pelo herpes vírus humano. Os sintomas apresentados em geral são: prurido, ardencia ou dor no local no qual aparecem as múltiplas vesículas. Muitos tratamentos têm sido propostos, porem nenhum deles canseguiu evitar o reaparecimento do virus. Trabalhos na literatura relatam o potencial da terapia fotodinâmica em inativação viral. A utilização do laser de baixa potencia é proposta como um coadjuvante no tratamento do herpes labial, com a vantagem de diminuir a freqüência de aparecimento das lesões, proporcionando satisfação e conforto aos pacientes. Neste trabalho, é apresentado um caso clínico onde foi utilizada a terapia fotodinâmica para o tratamento do herpes labial na fase de vesícula (685nm, 100J/cm2, 100mW, 27J, 28s por ponto e corante azul de metileno a 001 por cento) associada à terapia com laser de baixa potencia para reparação da leso (685nm, 20J/cm2, 40mW, 0,54J, 14s por ponto). Houve completa resolução do caso em uma semana, senda que uma considerável melhora dos sinais e sintomas do herpes labial foi obtida seis horas após a terapia fotodinâmica. A associação da fototerapia a laser, durante o período de tratamento foi importante para acelerar o processo de reparação da leso. DESCRITORES: laser; herpes labial; herpes simples.

ABSTRACT

Herpes labialis is a common infect-contagious disease, caused by the human herpes-viridae. The symptoms usually reported are: itching, burning sensation and pain in the local where the multiple vesicles appear. Several treatments have been proposed, however none of them could avoid the reactivation of the virus. Studies in the literature report the potential of photodynamic therapy in viral inactivation. Treatment with low level power laser appears as an alternative option in the treatment of herpes labialis, with the advantage of decreasing frequency of vesicles appearance, providing satisfaction and comfort to patients. This study shows a clinical report, which was used the photodynamic therapy for treatment of herpes labialis in the vesicle stage (685nm, 100j/cm2, 100mW, 2,7J, 28s per point and 0,01% of blue methylene dye) associated with low level power laser for the lesion healing (685nm, 20J/cm2, 40mW, 0,54J, 145 per point).There was a resolution of the case after one week. A considerable improvement of signals and symptoms of the herpes labialis was gotten six hours after the photodynamic therapy. The association of laser phototherapy, during the treatment period, was important to accelerate the lesion healing process. DESCRIPTORS: laser; herpes labialis; herpes simplex.
