| Cistos periodontais laterais sáo entidades relativamente raras que acometem preferencial- mente a mandíbula na regiáo de pré-molares. Este
cisto tem origem durante o desenvolvimento e se apresenta entre as raízes dos elementos dentais envolvidos, sem, contudo, provocar qualquer envolvimento pulpar.
Clinicamente, este se apresenta assintomático e, em alguns casos, com discreto aumento de volume, normalmente descoberto nos exames radiográficos de rotina.
Radiograficamente, observa-se uma lesáo radiolúcida, semelhante a uma lesáo periapical, o que pode gerar erros durante o diagnóstico inicial da lesáo. Este relato
de caso apresenta um cisto periodontal lateral em incisivo lateral superior em um adulto do sexo masculino de 32 anos. O diagnóstico histológico confirmou a
presença do cisto odontogénico, o qual foi tratado com enucleaçáo total. O paciente foi acompanhado por um ano, sendo observada radiograficamente a
neoformaçáo óssea e a auséncia de recorréncia do cisto.

| Lateral Periodontal Cysts are relatively rare pathologic entities which preferably affect the mandibular pre-molars region. This cyst has an
origin during development and is located between the roots of affected teeth, without cause any pulpar damage. Clinically, it shows asymptomatic development and
could lead to a local increasing. Usually are discovered during routine radiographic exams, showing a radiolucid image, similar to a periapical lesion, what could
lead to wrongs in the initial diagnosis. The present case report documented a Periodontal Lateral Cyst in upper lateral incisor in a 32-years man. The histological
analysis confirms the diagnosis of odontogenic cyst which was totally enucleated. The present case had a 1-year follow-up, showing the new bone formation and absence of recidive.
