RESUMEN
Functional rehabilitation of a completely edentulous patient with removable prostheses is a clinical challenge. A patient with an edentulous maxilla and mandible received 6 endosseous implants in the maxilla and 5 implants in the mandible using CAD/CAM surgical templates. Definitive maxillary and mandibular implant-supported fixed complete dentures were connected immediately after implant placement using a CAD/CAM-guided implant surgical placement protocol. SUMMARY
This article describes the management of a completely edentulous patient using a CTscan, computer-based treatment planning, CAD/CAM fabrication of a surgical template, minimally invasive flapless implant placement, and immediate insertion of prefabricated definitive maxillary and mandibular prostheses. This protocol allowed a completely edentulous patient to have implant-supported maxillary and mandibular fixed complete denture prostheses simultaneously placed. The advantages of this technique include computer-based presurgical planning, minimally invasive flapless procedure, rapid recovery, minimal post treatment discomfort, and immediate regain of occlusal function.
