| Resumen | |
| Las reacciones alérgicas a los medicamentos empleados por el odontólogo son entidades
clínicas no muy frecuentes de ver, pero de real importancia cuando aparecen. Los materiales de uso dental, así
como los antisépticos, son causantes de la mayoría de las reacciones de alergia de contacto intraoral. Los
antibióticos, analgésicos, prescriptos por el odontólogo por vía sistémica así como los anestésicos locales de
uso habitual en la clínica, son fármacos que pueden determinar reacciones de alergia generalizada ya sea inmediata
o tardía, que el profesional debe prever o tratar si fuera necesario. El látex, material que se encuentra en el
equipamiento odontológico, es citado como causante de manifestaciones alérgicas tanto en el paciente como en el
profesional. Contamos en la actualidad con fármacos muy efectivos para prevenir una reacción alérgica en los
pacientes susceptibles, así como para tratar un incidente imprevisto; es importante conocerlos para hacer un
uso racional de los mismos.

| The allergic reactions to the medicines used by the dentist are not clinical entities
very often seen, but of great importance when they appear. Materials used in dentistry as well as antiseptics are
the cause of most of the allergic reactions of intraoral contact. The antibiotics and analgesics prescribed systemically
by the dentist as well as the local anaesthetics of habitual use at the clinic are drugs that can cause generalized
allergic reactions. These can be immediate or late. It is important to mention, that the dentist must foresee the
reactions or treat them if necessary. Latex, a material found in the dental equipment is mentioned as the cause of
allergic manifestations both in the patient and in the dental professional. Nowadays, there are very effective drugs
to prevent an allergic reaction in sensitive patients as well as to treat an unexpected incident. Needless to
say, it is important to know these drugs in order to make a rational use of them.
