RESUMO

Neste trabalho, avaliou-se o perfil facial de individuos com oclusao normal ou maloclusao Classe I de Angle, por meio do angulo "Z" de Merrifield, na fase de dentiçao mista, em diferentes tipos de padróes faciais. O valor médio do angulo "Z" obtido foi de 71,75°, sendo que para os indivíduos braquifaciais foi 73,66°, mesofaciais 72,85° e dolicofaciais 68,77°. O resultado da análise de variancia nao acusou diferença estatisticamente significante entre os valores médios do angulo "Z" dos trés grupos, num nivel de probabilidade p≥ 0,05. ABSTRACT

In this study, the facial profiles of subjects with normal occlusion or Angle class I occlusion were evaluated through the Merrifield´s "Z" angle, in the mixed dentition phase, in different facial standard types. The mean value of the Z" angle was 71,75°; 73,66° to brachyfacial, 72,85° to mesofacial and 68,77° to dolichofacial subjects. The variance analysis results has not showed any statistical significant difference between the three means groups, at a probability value p≥ 0,05. Keywords: Facial profile; "Z' angle; Facial type.
