RESUMO

Em 1977, Erdman Palmore criou um questionário baseado em afirmaçóes factuais sobre o envelhecimento humano, as quais podem ser documentadas por meio de pesquisa empírica. Embora tenha sido idealizado há 30 anos, ainda hoje este instrumento de investigaçáo tem sido utilizado em pesquisas sobre o envelhecimento. Apresenta-se uma revisáo da literatura sobre os aspectos fisiológicos, com o objetivo de fundamentar e de validar as respostas predeterminadas como verdadeiras ou falsas. ABSTRACT

In 1977, Erdman Palmore created a questionnaire based on factual assertions about human aging, which can be documented through empirical research. Although idealized 30 years ago, still today this instrument research has been used in research on aging. A review of the national literature on the physiological and behavioral issues raised in the questionnaire by Palmore, adapted to the reality of Brazilian by Cerri and Bolzani, it is presented in order to justify and validate the responses pre-determined as true or false.
