ABSTRACT
In March 2008, second-stage training was completed after the dental clinical specialized training program was made obligatory. We considered the following three areas: 1. Opinions regarding the program, collected during the workshop; 2. The curriculum and guiding framework for each course of the program and the number of instructors in 2008; and 3. The influence of the program on the trainees' career choices after they had completed clinical training in fiscal 2007. Although problems concerning the training period, guiding framework, and content were well clarified, there were no opinions cfn appropriate improvements. As a merit, it was pointed that the trainees could obtain new knowledge and skills. The curriculum and guiding framework for each course and number of instructors differed between courses ; however, it was found that the trainees were more highly motivated in courses in which they could participate in actual medical treatment. The results of the questionnaire on trainees' career choices after clinical training showed that the specialized program had a large influence on such choices in and after the second year.
